By their very nature, construction sites are accident-prone places due to all the high-risk activities being done on-site and the maze of equipment, machinery, and materials scattered all over the site. Even with safety protocols put in place by site supervisors, it’s not an exaggeration to say that in a construction site, an accident is waiting to happen at any time. All it would take would be some cutting corners done by a worker already tired at the end of the day, or a moment’s lapse in concentration by a worker handling dangerous equipment or machinery, or some hidden factory defect in a hand drill or chain saw being used by a worker. Anything can happen in a moment, which results in a chain of unfortunate events. And before anyone could do something about it, one or several workers would be wounded or seriously injured.

Little Neck is a neighborhood in the eastern part of the borough of Queens in New York City. The community is nestled on the North Shore of Long Island. To the south, it is bordered by Glen Oaksand. To the west, it is bordered by Bayside; and to the east by the region of Great Neck in Nassau County.
The earliest known settlers of the area that would later become Douglaston-Little Neck were the Matinecock Native Americans. Their main source of food were the seafood they caught in Little Neck Bay. Early Dutch settlers were drawn to the area by the rich land and abundant shipping. Owing to its strategically-placed harbor, European settlers began arriving here in the 17th century. Soon after, the Matinecock lands were placed under control by the British and the Dutch who settled in these lands.
There are several steps to make sure you protect your right to claim workers’ compensation benefits after a construction accident. The first step would be to report the accident to your employer. This should be in writing. After a construction accident that results in an injury, you must notify your supervisor and make sure that a written accident report is filed. You have to do this regardless of the extent of your injuries. If your injury causes you problems later but you did not report that accident that caused it, this could give your employer a ground to deny your claim for workers’ compensation benefits.
A formal application for workers’ compensation starts with a form called C-3 in New York. This form will ask you for a number of personal and employment information (including how much pay you get). It will also require you to state how the accident happened, the injury you suffered, any medical treatment you have had, and whether or not you were able to go back to work.
