Maritime Accident Attorneys in New York City
Admiralty Law and Costa Concordia Lawsuit Information
Maritime law, also known as admiralty law, encompasses the group of laws that govern seagoing vessels and off-land property, including cruise ships, boats, submarines, yachts, and offshore oil rigs. These laws establish the rights of workers on commercial vessels as well as the passengers who are invited onto these vessels.
The maritime accident attorneys of Proner & Proner handle the full range of cases resulting from accidents involving cruise ships and other seafaring vessels. Most recently, Mitchell Proner joined with Italian consumer association Codacons and another American law firm to pursue legal action against the operators of the Costa Concordia. The Costa Concordia ran aground on January 13, 2012, killing at least 17 of the more than 4,200 passengers aboard and injuring hundreds more.
If you or a member of your family was a passenger on the Costa Concordia when it ran aground off the Italian island of Giglio, please contact Proner & Proner immediately for important information about your legal rights.

Costa Concordia Lawsuit Information
Update 2/14/2012: The law firm of Proner & Proner is highly experienced in filing both class-action and individual claims, having recovered millions of dollars on behalf of our clients in both types of litigation. After evaluating the legal issues surrounding a class action in this particular case, we feel that filing a class-action on behalf of victims of the Costa Concordia cruise ship accident is not in their best interests at this point. Instead, we have filed individual actions collectively out of the belief that approaching this case as a mass tort rather than a class action will result in the greatest likelihood of our clients receiving the most significant economic recovery possible.
Moment by moment, we are analyzing all of the variables that impact on this case, and as of now, we remain unconvinced that bringing a class action is the proper strategy to take on behalf of the Costa Concordia victims we are representing from all over the world. Our primary goal is to see that those passengers who have suffered so greatly as a result of this needless tragedy are able to obtain the full measure of damages to which they are entitled.
If you or someone you love was on board the Costa Concordia when the shipwreck occurred, it is imperative that you contact Proner & Proner immediately to ensure that your rights are protected.

Update 1/31/2012: On January 31, 2012, Mitchell Proner announced the details of a $460 million lawsuit filed on behalf of six of the passengers who were aboard the Costa Concordia when it ran aground.
In the case of the Costa Concordia accident, attorney Mitchell Proner has stated his intention to seek at least $160,000 on behalf of each of the passengers aboard the ship at the time of the wreck.
