Deadly Three-Vehicle Crash in Cumberland County, New Jersey

New Jersey State Police said that a 62-year-old woman from Philadelphia lost her life in an auto accident involving three vehicles. The car accident occurred on the morning of Thursday, September 22, at approximately 5:45 a.m. on Route 55. As Timothy Dupnock, the operator of a Chevy Silverado pickup truck, drove in the southern direction on the highway, he allegedly fell asleep. Dupnock, who is 27 years old and from Port Norris, reportedly traveled across the median and into the lane headed north.

Dupnock’s truck hit a Ford Fusion, which was driven by Lydia Brannon. The collision propelled Brannon’s Fusion across the median and onto the southbound lane of the highway. At that point, a tractor-trailer headed south on the highway collided head-on into Brannon’s vehicle. Brannon was later declared dead at the scene of the accident.

According to NJ State Trooper Alejandro Goez, Dupnock received medical treatment at the scene but did not need to be hospitalized. The operator of the tractor-trailer, 38-year-old Raymont Felder of Gwynn Oak, Maryland, sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was treated at Inspira Medical Vineland.

Proving Negligence against a Sleeping Motorist in NY and NJ

If you were injured in a motor vehicle accident that was caused by a driver who fell asleep, you may have a case of negligence against that motorist. However, you will have a stronger case if the driver admits to having fallen asleep at the wheel. Without an admission, you will have to accumulate evidence to support your claim.
