A tragic car accident occurred early in the morning in which a young man died. Meanwhile, his younger brother is believed to have crashed the car into a parked vehicle, and left him for dead inside the wrecked car. However, the mother came to the defense of the boy who survived the crash, and maintained that he did nothing wrong.

The accident took place when Aidan Camacho, age 19, crashed his 2008 Acura into a parked car and a tree on Atlantic Avenue, close to 85th Street in Woodhaven, Queens. While his brother, who was severely injured, was still trapped inside the car, Aidan signaled to a passing car to stop, and went to Interfaith Medical Center. He had already left the hospital when police arrived.

Rescuers had to use extraction tools to extricate Angel Camacho, Jr., age 22, from the mangled vehicle. They immediately took the carpenter to Jamaica Hospital, but doctors were unable to save him. The boys’ mother, Fernanda Almestica, says she is in possession of evidence showing that Aidan was not operating the vehicle. She claims she has video indicating that he was not the motorist. According to her, Aidan was unconscious when rescuers pulled him from the car. She said that upon his arrival at the hospital, he was still unconscious. He later said they were in a car accident, and he did not know the whereabouts of Angel.

Furthermore, Angel Camacho’s employer, Steven Scordio, stated he did not think Aidan would leave his brother behind. He said that the two had just become roommates, and were best friends. He went on to say that Aidan looked up to Angel as though he were a father figure, and that Angel was very industrious, generous, and had a bright future ahead of him. Mr. Scordio’s wife, Christine Scordio, described Angel was a great young man, and said that he had worked on her family’s home for six months.
