A head on collision can be particularly devastating due to the nature of the crash itself. In many car crashes, the force of impact can be mitigated depending on where the vehicle is hit and the rate of acceleration when hit. In a head on collision, the impact is often doubled and both vehicles absorb all of the force. This can make the car accident especially damaging to not only the vehicles, which are often totaled, but to the drivers and passengers of the cars as well.
